FAQS

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We start by getting a better understanding of the project the customer is looking to have completed. We then schedule an appointment with the customer to visit the home and give a proper inspection of the areas in need of improvement. Finally, we answer any questions that will assist the customer in having all the correct information to make the decision they feel comfortable with. Upon completion of the visit, we will provide the customer with a detailed estimate for the scope of the project in a timely manner.

  • What is R-Value?

R-value is the measure of thermal resistance and the higher the R-value, the greater the insulating effectiveness. It is used to measure the resistance of heat flowing through a specific material based on its thickness. When you see a high R-value, it means that it more resistant to heat flow.

  • Is Air Sealing my Attic worth it?

Air sealing your attic is essential to an energy efficient home. ... Air sealing your attic and having it appropriately insulated helps minimize the stack effect. This will make your home's temperature more comfortable and easy to regulate, while protecting you against high energy costs year-round.

  • Why are the walls in my house so cold?

If the wall feels cold, chances are your home is not very well insulated. ... It is really important because cold walls can create their own problems. A cold wall is going to create a point where the moisture in the warm air of the room can condense onto the wall, and that can lead to mold and damp – not what you need.

  • Should I have my old insulation in my attic removed?

Unless it's water damaged or rodent-infested, you do not need to remove your attic insulation. Remember, if you are concerned about dust and air quality, you need to have your attic air sealed to separate the attic from the house before you add more insulation, otherwise you'll just make the dust problem worse.

  • What is the difference between Closed Cell and open cell spray foam?

Closed cell foam has cells which are sealed off so air doesn't get inside the structure at all. The major difference between the two foam options is that closed cell foam tends to be harder or firmer while open cell foam is softer or less firm.  Closed cell foam achieves a vapor barrier while open cell foam does not.  Closed cell foam has a high R-value per inch than Open Cell foam.
